trail 3.0

IDEA:
Nature Valley Trail View turned America’s greatest hiking trails into a mobile-first, interactive experience—bringing over 400 miles of iconic U.S. National Parks to your pocket. Built entirely in mobile web (no app required), users could swipe through 360° trail views, zoom into hidden landmarks, and explore rich, GPS-tagged content as if they were there—whether at home or actually on the trail.
It transformed a granola brand into a virtual park ranger, reimagining trail exploration for the digital age.

RESULTS:
The mobile-first experience drove a 200% increase in time spent with the brand site, doubled social sharing rates compared to desktop, and helped Nature Valley gain over 120,000 new mobile users in the first few weeks. It won a Webby for Best Use of Device Camera, a Gold Clio for Digital/Mobile, and was recognized with FWA Site of the Dayand Mobile Site of the Day honors—becoming a case study in how mobile technology can foster environmental advocacy.
